Right now, 1.1 Billion people on the planet don't have access to safe, clean drinking water. That's one in six of us.
Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation causes 80% of all sickness and disease, and kills more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Many people in the developing world, usually women and children, walk more than three hours every day to fetch water that is likely to make them sick. Those hours are crucial, preventing many from working or attending school. Additionally, collecting water puts them at greater risk of sexual harassment and assault. Children are especially vulnerable to the consequences of unsafe water. Of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and a lack of basic sanitation, 90% are children under 5 years old.
An average american uses 150 gallons of water each day to cook, clean and drink. a person in the developing world struggles to find 5.
4,500 Chlidren will die today from water borne diseases....

Hi Jessica, you don't know me but I stumbled across your blog some how through your profile as a dental hygienist. I am in hygiene school right now and in fact just took my national board test today. I was about to make a post about it when I saw your blog. It is very encouraging to see you using your gifts as a dental hygienist for God's glory all the way across the globe. What you are doing is exactly what I want to do after I graduate, to go where God leads and be helping people not only in our neighborhoods but on the other side of the earth. God bless you, you have prayers being sent from SO Cal!
