Taxi Strike

This morning the dental team was heading to the clinic and on our way we noticed the lack of yellow taxi cabs on the streets and the over abundance of people on the side of the road trying to find a ride to their work destination. To our surprise we found out that the taxi cab drivers were on strike. Over night gas jumped from $2.60 a gallon to $5.45 a gallon. Apparently the taxi cab Union decided not to run the cabs this morning. They also asked the President of Liberia to do something about the price of gas. Our day workers had a rather difficult time getting to work this morning some of them had to walk many miles to get there. Taxi cabs are the main means of transportation here.

To our surprise as we were walking home from work just a few minutes ago we saw that gas was now down to $4.20 a gallon and the yellow taxi cabs were back on the road. All is now good in Monrovia at least for another day.

Maybe the USA should go on a gas strike………….this was just another only in Africa moment that I thought you all would like to read about. :)
